Situated in the heart of Cape Town’s city centre, set in a charming urban winery, Bouchon wine bar & bistro is a meeting place for people who love flavoursome, down-to-earth food and are curious about the world of wine. Behind this venture is winemaker Christophe Durand of Dorrance wines and restauranteur Faisal Khakoo of La Boheme Bistro & wine bar and Engruna Eatery, who saw the gap for a sophisticated yet relaxed food and wine experience that compliments the contemporary French-style setting.
Head chef Siraaj Allie grew up in Cape Town and has been in the industry for over 10 years. In 2015 he spent some time in Dubai and went on to work at The Mansion restaurant and lodge in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, before moving back to Cape Town and starting at Bouchon.
The 3-Course Dinner will be paired with five Dorrance wines. Two of the wines, the Cinsault and Viognier will be tasted unaccompanied, and three of them will be paired with food.
The pairing will be as follows:
Peri-peri calamari with peas and garlic couscous
Paired with Chenin Blanc
Chardonnay- Prawn and spring onion gnocchi with a garlic and pecorino sauce
Paired with Chardonnay
Beef cubes with a bearnaise sauce
Paired with Syrah
The Bouchon Wine Bar and Bistro typically serves Tapas, therefore they do not usually host these types of pairings as it might interfere with the normal dinner service.
Please also note that the Dine4Six table is an exception as they do not normally accommodate a table of 6 in the cellar- it is usually reserved for larger groups.
It is advised that you bring a warm jacket along on the evening as the aircon will be running.
